Mandelblüte B361
One of two Niebling patterns called "Mandelblüte." Oval tablecloth, size: 150 cm long, 116 cm wide. Materials: 400 g medium-weight banana-colored crochet silk, size 2.5 mm knitting needles.
For the oval center section, cast on 9 stitches and knit 4 rows. Purl the return rows, slip the first stitch of every row purlwise to create a selvedge edge, and always knit the last stitch of every row through the back loop. From round 5 onwards, work according to chart A. After round 198, work 3 more rows in stockinette stitch. Next, knit one stitch from each of the 101 edge stitches onto the 9 stitches on the needle, making a yarn over after the 2nd to 10th stitches. Omit the yarn over after the 11th stitch, and again after every 10th stitch following. Make a yarn over after all remaining stitches. Then, pick up one stitch from each of the 9 cast-on stitches and one stitch from each of the 101 edge stitches on the second side of the oval, making the yarn overs in the same way as on the first side. You will then have 400 stitches in the round. Purl 3 rounds. Then, work the edge point according to the chart in Fig. B. The pattern repeat is worked 16 times in the round. Each pattern round is followed by one knit stitch. From round 107 onwards, in each pattern repeat, first knit the pattern section bordered by strong lines three times side by side, then knit the pattern section outside the strong lines once. After round 142, cast off the stitches loosely.
