Herbstzeitlose
This is very similar to Schlüsselblume; just a difference in the number of repeats, as far as I can see.
Size: rectangle, 80 x 56 cm. Material: 120g rayon crochet thread, size 6/0 knitting needles. (Vintage German needle sizes)
Instructions: Cast on 28 stitches, work 4 rows stockinette. Continue according to chart A, working a total of 106 rows before finishing the center piece with 4 rows stockinette. (110 rows.) Place the 28 stitches from the cast-on, the 55 selvedge stitches from each side and the live 28 stitches onto needles and start working in the round as follows:
Purl 1 round, inserting 1 yo after each of the 55 selvedge stitches and at the same time work (1k, 1p) into each selvedge stitch on each side. This should give you a total of 112 stitches per long side plus 28 stitches each from the CO and the live stitches, respectively, adding up to a total of 280 stitches. Work another 3 rounds plain purl across these 280 stitches.
Continue according to chart 14b. The part between the bold lines must be worked once per short side but four times per long side of the rectangle. In between these, work the part to the left of the bold lines once each [corner pattern]. Each charted round is followed by a (“resting”) round in plain knit. Cast off loosely after rd 64, block evenly.
Many thanks due to Anagret, who, as usual, has translated the instructions. However, I rewrote them, so any errors are mine.
