Large tablecloth in two sizes, both with fringe.
Materials for the 126cm diameter tablecloth, including a 25cm wide lace border: 300 g medium-fine artificial silk (rayon), size 10/0 knitting needles and matching tulle for the 76cm diameter center.
Cast on 512 stitches (32 stitches per repeat) and join into a round. Knit the first 6 rounds and then begin following according to chart. + After knitting rounds 1-6, continue knitting according to chart B, up to round 10, repeating the pattern as many times as required per round. All rounds not shown on the charts are knit, and from 2 adjacent yarn overs, always knit the first loop and purl the second loop.
After the 10th round, repeat rounds 7 through 10 twice more and then continue working with round 19 of the chart. The heavy line within the chart is ignored; it is required for the middle section of the larger tablecloth. After the 87th round, cast off loosely. Block the lace around the outside to form a 125 cm circle. Block the inner edge so that the depth of the lace is 18 cm. Fold the raw edge of the fabric 1/2 cm to the front and sew the lace circle firmly to the fabric, hiding the raw edge. Attach 18 cm long silk fringes to the outer edge of the lace. To do this, cut 42 cm long threads, place 2 threads together, fold in half and knot through the a loop in the outer edge of the lace. Repeat until the fringe is complete around the tablecloth.
Large round tablecloth with central motif and lace border. Diameter: 158 cm, including the 25 cm wide lace border. Materials: 420 g of sand-colored medium-fine crochet rayon for the border, including the fringes, and 70 g of sand-colored medium-fine crochet rayon for the center motif, plus size 10/0 knitting needles and matching tulle fabric. Cast on 672 stitches and join into a round. Then, follow the instructions for the 126 cm tablecloth from the beginning (see instructions above). Block the lace into a 158 cm diameter circle. Then, work the 58 cm diameter central motif: Cast on 8 stitches and join into a round, first following chart A, knitting the given pattern 8 times in the round. All rounds not shown on the chart are to be knitted. After round 50, work rounds 49-87 of chart B, always only the part before the thick line. After round 87, cast off loosely and stretch the motif into a 58 cm round, with a diameter of 43 cm in the depth of the arch. Place the finished motif in the center of the 108 cm tulle circle, stitch it in place firmly, and cut off the tulle underneath the motif. Then attach the edge lace and tie in the fringe, as described in the description for the first tablecloth.
