FdA 694

Square doily, 40 cm per side. I was sent this in a group of clippings that were all supposed to be from FdA, and all were attributed to Herbert Niebling. However, this particular pattern was missing the instructions, the key, the materials. Also the clipping had been marked up with a pencil by the last person to knit from this copy, and was hard to read. So I did my best, and figured out the instructions as well as I could from the photo as well as the chart. There were hints of information: size, for instance, and 8-stitch cast-on.

Cast on 8 stitches and join into a round and knit according to the chart, repeating the chart 4 times per round. Pay attention to the notes on the charts. Also, notice the groups of 3 yarnovers highlighted in turquoise color. In the following round, increase the triple yarnovers to 11 stitches. In the last round, use a crochet hook to combine the number of stitches shown with a single crochet. I don't know how many to chain between groups, but I would try 10 to 12 chain stitches for each loop in the border.

If anyone has the complete pattern and wants to share, I would love to see it.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
