FdA 606

100 g of size 20 cotton crochet thread, size 2 knitting needles. Four flower motifs are knitted, grafted together into an oval, then stitches around the outside picked up and a border is added.

Cast on 6 stitches, join into a round. Repeat the pattern of chart A six times per round up to round 62. Put all stitches on hold (stitch holders or waste yarn.) Knit 3 more identical motifs. Graft the motifs together as shown in the schematic. You will have 14 sides left for the edging. Work according to chart B, start at one end of the oval. Part B1 is between the bold lines and B2 is after the bold line. You work as follows: B1, B2, (B1)2x, B2, B1; B2, (B1)2x, B2,B1, B2. Repeat this for the other side of the oval.

    Note:
  • In rd 1, when you work the B1 part for the 2nd time, replace the first and last double decrease by k4tog.
  • In rd 38 (a knit rd), knit the two B1 parts, now only comprised of 1 twisted stitch each, together.
  • In round 39, in the 4 “valleys” (where you had the 2 neighboring B1 parts), replace the 3 last knit stitches by k2, k2tog.
  • In rounds 39-46, repeat the chart 10 times per round.

Crochet off the last round, gathering as many stitches as indicated in the chart into 1 single crochet. Chain 8 stitches between single crochets. Block, starch as desired, let dry.
