Decke mit Stoffmitte

Small doily with a center from fine cloth. Follow the instructions to make an item of 35 cm by 47 cm, but this border could be used anywhere else as you please. The lacework is assembled from individual motifs and measures 11 cm in height.

Material: 20g MEZ crochet cotton no.100, 2 sets of dpns 1.5mm, 1 crochet hook size 0.6mm. A piece of 20x30cm fine thin cloth, 4ply embroidery thread no.25.

Instructions: For the size given here, knit 16 triangular motifs first. These are worked back and forth in rows, according to chart A, starting from a cast on of 5 sts. All WS rows are to be purled except for double yarnovers, which must be worked 1 purl, 1 knit. Bind off (in purl!) in row 40 (a WS row). Sew the triangular motifs together following the schematic, take care that corresponding stitches face each other. For the outer edging, pick up 40 sts from each motif, i.e. 120 sts on the long sides and 80 sts each on the short sides, 400 sts per round. Coloured markers at the corners will facilitate your orientation. You will work according to chart B, working the chart 6 times per long side and 4 times per short side. At the corners, the part to the left of the red line is to be worked twice. Thereby, you will have a double yarnover in each corner in rd.1.All resting rows are knitted, except for double yarnovers (1 knit, 1 purl).

After round 22, crochet off, gathering as many sts into 1 single crochet as indicated in the last row of the chart, working 12 chains each in between. Block carefully, pay attention to having right angles at the inner corners, starch lightly. Baste to the cloth and attach to the cloth using the embroidery thread and tiny stitches. Carefully trim off any excess fabric on the wrong side.
