Christstern

Early art deco inspired tablecloth or doily. Size: 95 cm square. Materials: 150 fine white crochet silk, size 2/0 knitting needles.

Cast on 4 stitches and join into a round. Knit according to chart A (which is shown in several smaller parts so it is easier to print), repeating the pattern 4 times in the round. Knit the rounds not shown on the charts, and where there are double yarnovers, in the next round knit the first loop and purl the second loop.

In rounds 47 to 104, knit up to the strong line once, knit the stitches between the strong outlines 3 times side by side, then knit the remaining stitches once. Repeat 4 times per round.

From round 105, repeat the stitches inside the strong outline 4 times per repeat. Knit the stitches before and after the strong outline once per repeat.

Crochet off the stitches in the last round, combining each group of stitches with a single crochet stitch, and chain 13 between groups. Repeat until all stitches are bound off, join the last ch13 to the first decrease group of stitches. Block as desired, into a square shape.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
