Zackenspitze

This edging was originally published in Beyers 373. It's a pretty lace edging meant to be sewn onto a round cloth. You can see a photo here. I think it would be a pretty collar, or frame around a picture or embroidery.

The instructions are on the pattern. It's a simple knit. Once it is starched and blocked, sew it to a circle of fine fabric, like linen. Use matching embroidery thread. Then, on the backside, trim the fabric, roll the raw edges under and sew it down with a blind stitch.

It is pretty easy to write out the instructions, because the pattern is so simple to knit. Here they are:

  24. : Bind off with a crochet hook: dec 3 to 1, then ch9. Repeat from * until all stitches have been bound off. Join the last ch9 to the first decrease.

  • Cdd: centered double decrease : Slip 2 stitches together knitwise, k1, then pass slipped stitches over.
  • dec: decrease
  • k2tog : knit 2 stitches together.
  • ktbl : knit through back loop.
  • ssk : slip, slip, knit.
  • yo : yarn over.
