Ulme

Materials for the 98 cm tablecloth: 100 g of medium-fine crochet artificial silk, size 11/0 needles and a 52 cm diameter hexagon made of ivory silk.

Cast on 6 stitches and knit chart A. In rounds 1-32 repeat the pattern 6 times per round; in rounds 33-41 repeat the chart 18 times per round. Knit all the rounds not shown on the chart. After the 42nd round, bind off 90 sts of the round and leave the next 90 sts on astitch holder. Repeat the chart 5 more times to make a total of 6 medallions, each with 90 stitches on a stitch holder.

Knit 90 live stitches from a medallion, then cast on 20 stitches. Knit the 90 live stitches from the next medallion, and cast on 20 more stitches. Repeat with each medallion, until you have a total of 660 stitches. Join into a round, being extremely careful not to twist the stitches. Knit chart B 66 times per round. [I think I would knit the first couple of rows from the chart flat then join into a round. In other words, knit row one to the end (66 repeats of the design), then purl back. Knit row 3 from the chart (66 repeats again), then join into a round and continue with round 4 in the round.]

After the 18th round crochet the decreases with a single crochet, and chain 9 between the decreases. Turn your work and crochet around the work, with 1 single crochet in each decrease (through the back of the previous sc) and 10 chain-stitches between the sc. Block to a diameter of 98 cm. Stitch to the silk center. Turn over to the back side of the tablecloth. Trim off the excess fabric, roll under the raw edges and stitch down with a blind stitch.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
