Tränende Herzen

This is a large project, a doily or placemat called "Bleeding Hearts" in English. It was published in Elsa 3044. According to the original instructions it results in an oval about 45 cm by 65 cm or about 17 by 26 inches. It calls for 15 g of size 50 crochet thread. You can see a photo here in the Ravelry databse.

I have to confess I don't really understand the directions. I use Google to translate from German, and usually I can figure out what the instructions mean. However for this one I am confused. I'll share the instructions with you, in English as far as I can and I'll quote a bit of the German instructions in case any of you read German and can work it out.

Begin by casting on 8 stitches, and then follow Chart A, repeating the pattern 4 times per round. The next section I don't understand, although it seems to involve knitting back and forth the stitches between the solid lines in rounds 15 to 28: "Von 15 runde an stricke den mustersatz einmal von * re nach lie und einmal rückläufig von der 2 starken linie beginnend von li nach re bis zur 1 starken linie und wiederhole noch einmal von *."

The next instruction is: "Arbeite von 29 runde an den gegebenen mustersatz 2 mal. Your guess is as good as mine.

After the charts are all finished, bind off with a crochet hook. Decrease 3 stitches to one, and then chain 12 between the decreases.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
