Tilia

Size: 150 cm when made with "fillet silk," or 95 cm in diameter when made with "thin silk." Material: 180 grams of thin silk crochet thread, five size 1.5 knitting needles, one size 1.5 circular knitting needle and one size 10 crochet hook. [Use the thread or yarn you prefer and appropriately-sized needles, as it isn't clear what is meant by "size 1.5 knitting needle" or "size 10" crochet hook.]

The construction of this tablecloth is unusual: the center is knitted from the outside edge to the center. Then stitches are picked up around the outside and the border is knitted outward from the picked-up stitches. Cast on 1044 stitches and join into a round. (12 repeats x 87 stitches.) Knit according to chart A, repeating the pattern 12 times per round. Bind off after round 88.

Pick up 1044 stitches around the outside edge, one for each cast-on stitch. Knit according to chart B (12 repeats per round), and then chart C (24 repeats per round.) Bind off with a crochet hook, using a single crochet stitch to group together the number of stitches as shown in the last round, and chain 14 between the single crochets.

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
