Szafir Edging
This is a pretty doily, except that I don't like the center, so I just charted the border. Cast on a multiple of 18 stitches and join into a round if you want to make edging for a fabric doily. Or cast on a multiple of 18 stitches plus 2 for a straight piece of lace. In that case, always slip the first stitch of each row and knit the last stitch. For a lace circle, knit the rounds not shown on the chart. A straight length of lace is knitted flat, however, and you would purl the return rows. Note: In the 16th round, knit 17 stitches into the 7 YOs of the previous round. If you are knitting flat, remember that row 16 is a return row and you should purl instead of knit. When you come to the 7 YOs, drop all the loops and alternate knit and purl until you have 17 stitches in the loop. In the last round, decrease with a single crochet as many stitches as shown and chain 11 between decreases.
It's probably a good idea to knit a swatch so you can calculate how many repeats you need for your project.
Diameter: Approx. 40 cm. Material: 5 grams of fine white cotton thread (310 m in a skein of 5 grams), size 2 mm knitting needles and a size 1.25 crochet hook.

- Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
- I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
- Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
