Polygala
This is a 20cm square doily which can be used as the basis of a placemat, tablecloth or even a coverlet, if you knit multiple squares and graft them together.
Cast on 8 stitches and join into a round. Repeat the pattern four times per round. Decrease as shown in the last round, with a single crochet for each decrease and chain 12 between decreases.If you are planning to join multiple squares, don't do the decreases, use a loose knitted bind-off instead.
