Plume de Paon (Peacock feather)

This is a very pretty pattern. I know it's from Tricot d'Art but I don't know what the album number is. Maybe one of you readers can tell me? I found it in a German source, Kunststricken 1621 design No. 3! It wasn't listed in the Ravelry database, so I added it there. Still don't know who designed it, so I'll just attribute it to the Verlag fur die Frau design team.

The instructions call for 2 balls of perle cotton, size 5 or similar, size 2.5 and 3 knitting needles, and a size 1.5 crochet hook. What these needles sizes mean isn't specified in mm., so just use sizes appropriate for the size of thread or yarn you are using. The placemat measures 64 cm in diameter.

Cast on 12 stitches and join in the round. Follow the charts in order (A, B, C), repeating the pattern 12 times per round. After the 110th round decrease with a crochet hook as indicated for round 111. It's a bit unusual, so here are the written instructions:
Dec 3 to 1, chain 9, dec 3 to 1, chain 5, dec 2 to 1, do one dc in each of the next three stitches, dec 2 to 1, chain 5, dec 3 to 1, chain 9.
Or, do it any way you prefer!

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
