Another Herbert Niebling design, which can be a wide lace edging, a window valance or even a curtain. See a photo in the Ravelry database. I think it would make an amazing wide border on a plain stockinette triangle shawl.

Size: 30 cm high, and each pattern repeat is 12.5 cm wide. Material: Medium white silk and size 3 knitting needles.

Cast on a multiple of 47 stitches plus 2. Start knitting with Chart A. The two extra stitches are the edge stitches, and are not indicated on the pattern. Slip the first stitch of each row purlwise and knit the last stitch to form a chain edge. Purl the return rows. Knit rows 22-26 in reverse stockinette (purl the right-side rows and knit the wrong-side rows.) Knit rows 56-58 (garter stitch.) After row 76 knit 4 rows and then bind off. Starch and block.

To make a longer curtain, repeat charts B and C, or just C, as many times as you like, until the curtain is long enough for your window. Also, don't forget to right-click on each image and select "view image" or whatever your browser offers, to see a larger image.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
