Oleander
Size: 142 cm wide and 180 cm long (without fringe). Material: 800 g medium-weight rayon crochet thread, size 2.5 needles. The curtain is worked flat, in back and forth rows, in three parts: the curtain, the border and the fringe.
For the curtain body, cast on 380 stitches. Always slip the first stitch of each row and knit the last stitch through the back loop (twisted). Purl the first four rows so that there are purl ribs on both sides. Then knit according to chart A: in each pattern row slip the first stitch, knit 9 stitches and then knit the pattern repeat 6 times. Then knit 9 and knit the last stitch through the back loop. In the return rows, purl all stitches, except that you slip the first stitch, knit the next 9 stitches, purl across the row until there are ten stitches left. Knit 9 of those stitches and knit the last stitch through the back loop. Repeat rounds 211 and 212 until the desired length is reached. To finish, knit six rows and then bind off. Note that Chart A Rows 51-107 is shown two different ways: the complete chart, and also divided into right and left halves for easier printing.
For the lace border, cast on 380 stitches, knit 6 rows and then continue according to chart B. As with the curtain body, slip the first stitch of each row, knit the next 9 stitches, knit the pattern 6 times, and then knit 9 stitches and knit the last stitch through the back loop. Knit the return rows as in chart A. After the 107th round knit 5 more rows and then bind off loosely. Sew the border to the curtain. Knot fringe into the bottom edge: Put 2 40-cm-long threads into every 2nd stitch along the bottom, pull to make the ends even and then tie the threads into a double knot.
