Leberblümchen Oval

A pretty and simple oval doily. Size: 34 cm long, 18 cm wide. Material: 15 g fine silk, size 3/0 knitting needles.

Cast on 8 stitches and begin with chart A, repeating the pattern 8 times per round. Knit the rounds not shown on the chart. In rounds 15 - 26 knit the stitches outlined in blue twice, and then knit the stitches left of the second blue line twice. Then do this again to complete the round.

Knit chart B back and forth over stitches 1 - 44. Purl the return rows as follows: slip the first stitch, purl until 1 stitch remains, knit that stitch. When chart B is finished, place the last stitch on a stitch holder and cut the thread. Place stitches 45 - 70 of the center (chart A) on a stitch holder or spare thread. Knit chart B back and forth over stitches 71 - 114. Put the last stitch of this wing on a stitch holder also. Don't cut the thread here.

Slip the stitch with the active thread onto a needle and make a yarn over. Then pick up 19 stitches along the side of this wing, making a yarnover after each stitch. Knit the next 26 stitches. Then along the side of the next wing, pick up 19 stitches with a yarnover after each one. Then repeat these instructions on the second side of the doily. You should have 208 stitches on your needles.

Knit one round. Knit chart C in the round, repeating the pattern 16 times per round. Knit the rounds not shown on the chart. Bind off loosely. To block, wash and starch the doily then pin it in an oval shape with 32 points evenly spaced around the edge.
