Krone
Krone is a lovely lace edging, rather elaborate, published in a Beyer magazine in 1957. I recharted it, correcting a couple of problems, and using more modern knitting symbols. I don't own the original pattern, but this rechart is my own. If you knit this lace, please post it in your projects on Ravelry and link to this page. I'd love to see your work! If you'd like to see what it looks like, there is a photo here on the Ravelry page for this pattern.
Instructions: Each repeat is approximately 12.5 cm long - 78 stitches. Cast on a multiple of 78 stitches plus 2 (one edge stitch for each end). Follow the chart, slipping one edge stitch at the beginning of the first repeat, and knitting one edge stitch after the last repeat. On the reverse side, slip the first stitch, purl all other stitches, except where there are two YOs. In that case, knit the first loop and purl the second loop. End with a knit edge stitch. Knit rounds 73 to 75. Bind off very loosely. Block according to the type of yarn or thread used.
Material: The original pattern calls for crochet thread size 60, needles size 1.25mm. A smooth-finish yarn, tightly plied, will show up the pattern and detail more. The more halo a yarn has, the more it obscures the pattern. The width of the lace will depend on the size of your thread or yarn and your needles.
Note: Right-click on the chart and choose "view in another tab" to see a larger image.
Remember:
- Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
- Do not copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
- Do not sell copies of these charts. HN was an artist. Let's share his works, eh? If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
