An oval doily, made with size 200 white crochet thread and size 0 knitting needles. One version shows the doily made with a black border, but I don't think that is as attractive as the all-one-color doily. Size: 41 cm. long, 20 cm. wide. I thought this was a design by Niebling, but according to the Ravelry database, it isn't. Nevertheless, it is very pretty and worth knitting.

Cast on 8 stitches, join into a round and knit the center following Chart A. From Round 29, knit the outlined stitches twice, and the stitches outside the outline twice also.

To achieve the oval shape, knit 2 side wings following Chart B, over stitches 1 to 68 and stitches 133 to 200. Place the remaining stitches on a stitch holder until the end pieces are complete. Work Chart B flat, purl the return rows. Be sure to slip the first stitch of each row, and knit the last stitch through the back.

Pick up 48 stitches along the side of one wing with a YO after every stitch you pick up, knit the 64 stitches from the stitch holder, then pick up 48 more stitches from the side of the next wing with a yarn-over after each stitch you pick up. (256 stitches) Repeat on the opposite side, so that you have a total of 512 stitches. Knit three rounds.

Starting at the point of the oval, knit Chart C 16 times in the round. After Round 20, crochet off the stitches according to the chart. Decrease with a single crochet and then chain 12 between the decreases.

For the second crochet round, alternately crochet 12 chain stitches 1 single crochet in each loop. Crochet a third round like the second round.
