These doilies can be blocked into oval or round shapes, as desired.

    Sizes:
  • Doily A: oval 28 x 40 cm, round 35 cm in diameter.
  • Doily B: oval 25 x 34 cm, round 30 cm in diameter.
  • Doily C: oval 35 x 50 cm, round 45 cm in diameter.
    Materials:
  • Doily A: 40g of special fine artificial silk for art knitting.
  • Placemat B: 30g of same artificial silk.
  • Placemat C: 50g of same artificial silk.
  • For the 3 doilies: No. 2 or 9/0 needles.
    Instructions:

  • Doily A: Cast on 6 stitches and knit in the round according to Chart A. Repeat each round 6 times per round. Rounds not indicated (2nd, 4th, etc.) are knitted. After the 72nd round, crochet the bind off. Crochet together the number of stitches indicated in the last round with a single crochet. Crochet 10 chain stitches between the decreases.

  • Doily B: Cast on 6 stitches, and knit according to Chart B. Repeat each pattern 6 times per round. See the other details for Doily A. After the 58th round, complete the crochet as for Doily A.

  • Doily C: Cast on 8 stitches, and knit according to Chart C. Repeat each pattern 8 times per round. See the other details on the instructions for Doily A. After the 40th round, knit rounds 31 to 72 of Chart A. Finish the placemat as in Doily A.
