FdA 1256

This is quite a pretty doily, 46 cm in diameter. Original instructions call for 2 balls of size 60 6-ply crochet cord and size 1.5 knitting needles (presumably 1.5 mm) and size 10 crochet hook.

This is constructed in several stages. First make 8 flower motifs, following Chart B. Cast on 10 stitches, join into a round, repeat the pattern 5 times per round. Use stitch markers. Do not bind off after the last round, but put stitches on waste thread or stitch holders. Make eight of these flowers. Join them into a wreath according to the schematic shown below. Graft or sew together along one repeat, leaving one repeat facing into the center with live stitches, and leaving two repeats along the outside, with live stitches.

Then pick up all the live stitches from the center and repeat Chart A-Alternate eight times in the round. After the last round, run the tail of the crochet thread through the remaining stitches, pull tightly to close the circle, knot and weave in the end.

OR, use Chart A to knit the center separately, then graft it to the live stitches inside the wreath of flowers. I think this is unnecessarily complicated.

Finally, pick up stitches around the outside and knit the border following Chart C. Bind off with a crochet hook, decreasing as shown in the last round, and chain 12 between the decreases.
