Another obscure Niebling pattern from Mallin 404. The name means ivy leaf, sometimes spelled Efeublatt. According to the original instructions, when made of fine silk with size 1 knitting needles the doily will be 25 cm in diameter. Made of medium-strong silk with size 2.5 knitting needles it will be approximately 54 cm in diameter.
Cast on 4 stitches and join in a round. Knit according to the chart, repeating the design 4 times per round. In the 8th round work 15 stitches in the 3 yarnover, alternating knit and purl. After the 48th round, decrease 3 stitches at a time with a crochet hook. Chain 9 stitches between the decreases. Complete written instructions.
