Centro Ovale

Figure 17 in Lavori 8. I have always thought that this would make a lovely wedding veil, because of the delicate design and the mesh background. You can see a photo here on Ravelry. There are only seven projects listed on Ravelry, which is a pity as it is such a pretty piece of lace.

The chart looks like a mess, but if you just follow it line by line, it isn't hard. Only a few stitches are used. The most interesting is the two-stitch cables which create a nice texture in the wheat. I fixed a couple of problems, with help from notes on the Ravelry projects. At this point the numbers (stitches used, stitches produced) are correct. The chart is large; right-click on it and choose "view image" or whatever your browser offers. Then you can see a larger image and the details are clearer.

Cast on 8 stitches and join in a round. Repeat the pattern 8 times per round. Knit the rows that are not shown on the chart, and where there are double YOs, knit the first loop and purl the second loop. The repeat outlined in blue is repeated 16 times per round. Bind off with a crochet hook, decreasing as indicated in the last round of the chart. Chain 9 stitches between the decreases.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
