Bucaneve (Schneeglockchen)

Bucaneve or Schneeglockchen is a motif used in several of Herbert Niebling's designs and possibly used as inspiration by other designers. I found a pattern in Lavori Artistici a Calza 7 to rechart. It had several confusing problems that I worked out by trying to balance the hexmesh background in the rounds with stitches that didn't add up. I got some help from the comments on Ravelry, from knitters who had made Bucaneve, especially the ever-helpful o-zeitlos-o whose comments are always enlightening.

Instructions: Cast 6 stitches and work Chart A 6 times in the round. At the beginning of Round 113, move the end-of-round marker to the left 5 stitches (remove marker, knit 5, replace marker.) Knit Chart B 24 times in the round. NOTICE that there are few "resting" rounds in Chart B. Pay attention to the number of each round. Knit rounds 120 and 122 (not shown in the chart). After Round 124, bind off with a crochet hook, decreasing according to the chart. Chain 14 between the decreases. Join the last ch9 to the first decrease, tie off and cut the thread.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
