BlattKranz Meyer 36

One of at least two Niebling patterns called Blattkranz. The original pattern calls for size 150 crochet thread and size 0 knitting needles, and it makes a 36 cm in diameter doily. First knit 8 motifs. They are then joined in a round and the remaining stitches picked up and knit, decreasing toward the center.

For each motif, cast on 8 stitches and knit chart A, repeating the pattern 8 times per round. In round 24 increase the 3 yarnovers to 11 stitches as shown. After round 28 bind off the stitches from 5 repeats with a crochet hook; decrease 5 stitches with a single crochet and chain 14 after each decrease. Place the remaining 72 stitches on a stitch holder or waste thread. Repeat until you have 8 motifs ready.

When all 8 motifs have been knitted, place all the live stitches (72 stitches from each motif) onto a circular knitting needle. Work according to chart B, decreasing toward the center of the doily. When 8 stitches remain, cut the thread, run the end through the 8 stitches and pull tightly.

Remember:

  • Feel free to download and use the charts, print copies for your own use. However, you may not print them out and share them with others. Send folks to my website so they can download for themselves.
  • I don't own the original pattern, but I do own my recharted version. So, please don't copy my charts and claim them as your own or publish them under your name. If you want to have your own charts, then find the original patterns and rechart them yourself!
  • Do not sell copies of these charts. If I don't charge for my recharts, you certainly shouldn't charge for my recharts!
