Akelei
This is a hexagonal doily from 1940. It is 35 cm in diameter, when made with 10 g or size 60 white shiny crochet yarn size 4/0 knitting needles.
Cast on 6 stitches and join into a round. Repeat the pattern six times in the round. Repeat round 31 in rounds 32-35. From the double YOs in round 35 increase to 10 stitches, alternating between k and p. From the 3 YOs in round 60, knit 3 stitches and from each set of 3 YOs in round 94 increase to 5 stitches, alternating between knit and purl. In the rounds not shown on the chart, knit the stitches as you find them: knit the knits, purl the purls and knit the twisted stitches through the back.
The last round is a bit complicated. Use a crochet hook to bind off stitches with a double crochet. Where there are decreases, crochet the number of stitches indicated together with a double crochet. Chain as many stitches as indicated between the decreases.
