Achteck

Size: 35 cm in diameter. Material: 20 g ivory-colored fine crochet silk and size 3/0 knitting needles. This intricate doily is knit in two parts separated by two rounds of crochet chains. First the interior is knit, following chart A. Then two rounds of crochet stitches are used to bind off this section and create a series of loops. Knit 9 stitches into each loop, and after knitting 4 rounds, you begin following chart B on round 5.

Cast on 8 stitches, join into a round, and knit chart A 8 times per round. Knit the rounds not shown on the chart (even-numbered rounds). Where there are double YOs, on the next round knit the first loop and purl the second loop.

After the 46th round crochet off the stitches by decreasing as shown in the last round with 1 single crochet each and chain 9 stitches between the decreases. Crochet a second round in which two loops are crocheted together with a single crochet, and chain 13 between the SCs.

For the second knit section, knit 9 sts into every loop, alternating knit and purl stitches. Next knit 4 rounds (rounds 1-4 on chart B) and continue with the rest of chart B, repeating the pattern 48 times per round. After the 20th round crochet off the stitches in the same way as described above. Starch and block.
